We Dispatch Your Doom
the orchid blooms for thee
I hinted at this earlier, but the time has come: Doompunk Dispatch has become a full blown independent publisher. We’re starting with books, comics, and zines, but our limits have yet to be reached. I’ve got a small team of cofounders assembled, so it’s not just me shoveling my own shit:
Jorge Peña III (he/him) – Master of Visual Reality (Art Director)
An illustrator and musician in Bucaramanga, Colombia. By day, he draws and paints for all manner of projects from comics to prints to show posters. By night, he makes a variety of music. His previous graphic novels projects include Type Rider (Subtle Body Press), Polygondwanaland (Hellmouth Comics), and Forgotten Goblin (Trapdoor Press).
Jorge has been hard at work designing our logo and putting together our flagship comic book (more on that imminently…). You can find him as Jorclank on instagram. He’s open to commissions at very reasonable rates!
Scarey Mulligan (they/them/elle) – Purveyor of Horse Meat (Marketing Director)
Performer and Essayist based in Los Angeles who won’t shut up about being Latine and writes about pop culture, parasociality, and capitalist decay for The Parasocial Hour. Has worked in the film industry, tech industry, the convention circuit, localization, and media accessibility. Starting now, the one to blame for Doompunk’s visibility.
If you want a taste of Scarey (they/them)’s style, you can keep up with them here on Substack as well as on Bluesky. An upcoming project for them will be adapting their favorite essays into zines under the D.D. banner.
David Kane (he/him) – Kafka Cosplayer (Editor-in-Chief)
Yeah, yeah, it’s me, your fearless bleeder & Editor-In-Chef, shoving acid-dipped jalapeno poppers into your slobbering jaw. A writer from California dedicated to Weird Fiction and absurdist theatre, I’ve written articles for a variety of sites, including the one you’re currently reading. My first book, Drippy Trippy Doom, was the inaugural publication of Doompunk Dispatch.
I gotta lotta tasty bits I’ll be dripping in soon. But it won’t just be my work fueling this endeavor. The Doompunk Dispatch mission will be to champion original projects by original voices, especially those who feel they are howling into the void. We’ll happily howl you louder.
You can keep up with Doompunk activities by following one of our shiny new social media accounts HERE. Instagram will be our main haunt in addition to here on Substack, where you’ll hear my more verbose updates.
Doompunk Dispatch is my meager, beleaguered, yet eager contribution to the world—the only world that exists—this one right here. Squint, and you may glimpse the next world hiding on the fringe of the current moment, always seducing us with its potential emergence.
Since you’ve been so patient, here’s the announcement of our first project:
Stay tuned for preorders opening later this month.

That art is outstanding; really caught my attention and full of character. It’s got the sort of neon, neo-80s vibe that I love to see. Wish you guys all the best, and will keep an eye on it now I’ve discovered it. I’m not precisely sure my writing is right for you, but I do write a post-apocalyptic, hellish, sword-and-sorcery serial set in the ruins of future Earth (maybe that’s in the vein?). If not, still looking forward to it. Would like to do something like this myself down the line. If only big publishing houses advertised with this kind of character
Hey now here’s a handsome guy (me)!
